After a few months of having a 12 gauge steel barbell in my tongue piercing, I experienced a great deal of discomfort from having steel beads, plus I wanted to move up a gauge. So, I ordered a 10 gauge stainless steel barbell with blue glitter beads from Joel's Holes. I chose them because I liked the sparkly beads that were availible, plus they used 316LVM stainless steel, had internally threaded barbells, and cheap prices--the barbell was $22 plus shipping.

They had promised that I would receive my order within 3-5 days. Despite my emails, it took a month and a half. When I finally did receive the jewelry, it had plain clear beads with a bland note -- "not available." Plus, the threads were kind of stripped and the ball kept popping off.

I would not order from Joel's Holes again, nor would I recommend the company. My experience with them simply did not live up to my personal standards.

I have ordered several pieces of jewelry from Joel's Holes and have been very pleased on all occasions. I have never had any trouble, even when ordering large gauge colored niobium, so I can't really comment on their customer service. The fact that I haven't had any problems says a lot in itself. Prices are very reasonable, and there is a nice selection of a wide range of jewelry types and materials. The jewelry is nicely made, very smooth and without any gaps where threaded ends meet the shaft. My only complaint is that the website doesn't have many pictures of the jewelry. When I ordered a small gauge colored niobium curved barbell, it came with colored ends. When I ordered a larger gauge colored niobium circular barbell, it came with stainless steel ends. It's a small detail, but I would feel better about ordering from them again if I could see the items that I'm buying. Even so, I recommend this company to anyone looking for very nice jewelry at decent prices.
