Unfortunately, there are only a handful of places in the US that deal with larger gauge Titanium or Niobium segment rings, so we were forced to order from Steel Skin. The price was high, but we custom ordered them for our client... assured by the company that they would take 2-3 weeks.

4 Weeks went by without a peep. We called the company, who told us they were backordered for segment rings for 2 - 2 1/2 months. Our client was very unhappy, but we decided to continue with our order.

Another 6 weeks went by without contact from the company, so we called again. A man answered and said that they had some trouble with the segments lining up, so they would have to be redone...this would take another 7-10 days.

We called 10 days later and spoke directly to the manager, who told us it would be an additional 2-3 months!!! After arguing on the phone about how we had been told several times our order would be done sooner, she basically stated she didn't have a guy there that would have said that and that she would try to get them out in 6 weeks.

I called back a week later to harass them again for the jewelry, and some girl stated they did have the segment rings in Niobium in stock! WHY they waited 4 months to tell us this is beyond me.

We finally settled for the Niobium rings, which were more...and were NOT discounted despite all the problems we had.

The jewelry was top notch, but NOT worth all the trouble and expense we had to go through to get it.

Our vote: Only use if no other high quality company can get your order, and ONLY order from if you have LOTS AND LOTS of time to wait!

I recently ordered the flesh colored dental acrylic plugs after a friend told me about Steel Skin and I'm quite satisfied. They're made out of dental acrylic and so they're a lot more durable than just cheap plastic. They match good too. I got the 0 gauge and they're nice and comfy and I hardly notice them. I'm sure I will order from them again. My friend who uses Steel Skin says he won't order from anyone else. Stylewise, they don't have as many choices as some other companies, but they have a good amount to choose from of the styles they have and it's all quality. The threads are part of the ball which is rad. I think they're the only ones who do that. I wish that they offered some organic stuff like wooden stuff and hand carved pieces, but I guess that's not their thing. The website is really easy to use. No confusion there. I got my order in good time with no problems.
